An Air Bridge RU198 Freighter suspended takeoff after the cockpit crew found the left engine thrust was abnormal, while the airplane was speeding up for taking off on the 1st runway of Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) at 11:20 a.m. on Sep. 11, reported by eastday.com.
After receiving the report from the crew, the Flight Management Department immediately sent inspection staff to examine the airplane on the runway. Damage was found to the left engine of the cargo plane. Also, lots of metal scraps were scattered on the runway. It is estimated that the scraps were caused by some damage to the aircraft engine.
It is learned that PVG has three parallel runways in service at the same time. The Airport Command Center coordinated with the air control tower and decided to close the 1st runway.
The runway was cleared for operation 3 hours later and no flights have been affected by the incident.
