New Qingdao Airport Location Confirmed

Qingdao's new airport has been officially approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to be located at Jiaodong Street Office in Jiaozhou, according to Qingdao new airport construction command. The new airport will be built into a regional hub and a gateway to Japan and South Korea, becoming a powerful new engine for regional economic growth.
The new airport will be located in west of Dagu River, east of eastern outer rim, between Jiaoji railway and Jiaoji passenger express, 11 kilometers northeast of Jiaozhou city center, and about 39 kilometers from Qingdao city center, where is easily accessible with three highways and four railways, forming a criss-cross road network extending in all directions, providing good traffic conditions for the site, and building a comprehensive air-ground transportation system.
It is learned that the new airport will be a class 4F airport, with the main runway 3,600 meters long and the second runway 3,200 meters long. In the near future, two independent widely-spaced parallel runways will be built, with a runway spacing of 2,200 meters, and a terminal area of 450,000 square meters, while another two closely-spaced parallel runways with a terminal area of 600,000 square meters will be built in the long future.
Through the estimation of regional economic development and civil aviation business needs growth, in accordance with the positioning for new Qingdao airport by the CAAC's 12th Five-Year Plan, the new airport is expected to serve 35 million passengers in 2025 and 55 million in 2045, and handle 104 and 136 aircraft movements in peak hour, respectively.
